Make a trade on Robinhood Chain, and there’s a good chance a hook is pulling the strings.
These Uniswap v4 extensions decide who gets fees, how token launches open, whether a pool doubles as a game, and more. Robinhood’s L2 builders have logged more than any other channel.
In today’s premium article, I outline where hooks appear on the L2, which projects stand out, and how to explore them safely. See you again!

ANALYSIS
A Field Guide to the Robinhood Chain Hook Economy
Author without bank: William Peaster

Robinhood CEO Just Gave Hooks His Blessing publicly.
On November 5, during a Robinhood Chain AMA on X, Vlad Tenev was asked if hook-based markets were something he wanted more of, or if he was focusing on tokenized stocks. His answer was “both,” before adding that “hooks are what happens when people get creative on an open channel.”

This is a notable endorsement, but it is also a description of what has already happened. Robinhood Chain went live on July 1 and in four months became the world’s busiest testing ground for Uniswap v4 hooks:
-
The most recorded hooks of any channel. Robinhood Chain owns 1,206 of 5,019 hooks Uniswap public hook registryahead of Base (1,150) and Ethereum (1,133). And that’s just the curated list: Tackle Chain Index spotted 31,469 distinct hook contracts on-chain, attached to approximately 392,000 pools.

Most transactions go through one. A BitQuery Census In early September, it was found that 74.5% of Uniswap v4 transactions on the chain went through a hook. I can’t find comprehensive data on what the reach looks like today, but it’s likely that it’s still very large.
-
Real volume underneath. Uniswap v4 alone processed approximately $1.7 billion in transactions on Robinhood Chain over the past week and approximately $10.5 billion over the past 30 days, according to ChallengeLlama.
As a result, in this guide, I’ll break down how this push happened and unfold through projects worth knowing about and much more. Letβs break down all the basics!
First, a quick reminder for anyone who isn’t in the know.
A hook is a smart contract that a Uniswap v4 pool calls at specific points in its life, for example just before or after each trade, or whenever someone adds liquidity. This allows a swimming pool to function own rules, like fees that scale with the market, taxes that fund a creator, spending on each purchase, sniper limits at launch, etc.
Notably, a pool’s hook is fixed when the pool is created, and a hook contract can serve multiple pools at once. A hook is therefore not a feature anchored in a market. In a direct sense, it East the market rulebook.

Back in May, I wrote about how V4 hooks are new territory for on-chain collectibles. It was certainly a niche focus, of course, but since then Robinhood Chain has transformed this general experimental ground into an expansive city. For what what happened was due to a handful of windfalls:
-
A solid DEX base. Uniswap v2, v3, v4 and UniswapX all launched alongside the channelwith Uniswap as L2βs primary public AMM. As such, v4 (which pioneered hooks) has been a default option for builders since the beginning.
-
A whole new asset class. Robinhood Stock Tokens trade 24 hours a day on-chain, even when the underlying stock markets are closed. This creates real design problems, for example, how should a pool price NVDA at 2am on a Sunday? Hooks have become the preferred solution for these purposes.
-
A speculative crowd and a war on the launch pads. Memecoins generated most of the chain’s initial volume, and dozens of launchpads now compete based on the rules built into their pools. These rules live in brackets.
-
Distribution. The Uniswap app and API trade in approved hook pools, so a good hook doesn’t need its own interface to find traders.
In other words, Robinhood Chain gave Hooks new assets, new users, and a dominant venue all at once. The results led to an increase in on-chain construction.
