Ramp adds x402 payments for AI agents, expanding its agent funding campaign as AWS and Stripe accelerate the agent payments race.
Today, payment company Ramp launched an alpha enabling agents to make x402 payments through Ramp, linking USDC agent wallets to company spend controls, attribution and audit trails.
What’s the scoop?
- x402 becomes a company: Ramp customers can fund agent wallets and then allow those agents to pay for x402 resources on Solana. Payments remain linked to the company’s Ramp account, providing visibility into which agent spent money, what they purchased, and how the transaction should be accounted for.
- Towards agent financing: The launch expands Ramp’s broader push to give AI agents controlled financial authority. Previously ramp launch of agent cardswhich allows agents to generate tightly constrained corporate card credentials, while its MCP and CLI already allow assistants to interact with company financial data and workflows.
- Big week for agent payments: The Ramp rollout continues a busy week for agent payments. On Monday, AWS showed agents carrying out transactions via Bedrock AgentCore Payments using x402 within user-defined spending limits. Earlier this week, Stripe agreed to acquire OpenRouter for more than $8 billion, with inference emerging as one of the clearest agent payment use cases.
Over 35 million transactions have been settled on x402. So far, none of them have touched a company’s ledger.
Starting today, agents can now make payments via x402 on Ramp with built-in attribution and audit trails.
