Ripple’s native token joined the market-wide sell-off on Friday sparked by the largest U.S. dollar hack in the crypto industry, plunging from around $1.30 to a multi-month low of $1.19 before rebounding to $1.25.
Although the short-term structure remains fragile, popular analyst EGRAG CRYPTO argued that the bigger picture points to substantial upside potential if key monthly resistance is reclaimed. Some of his targets, however, still seem far-fetched.
The level that can unlock everything
EGRAG long-term thesis centers on XRP’s monthly chart, where the asset is currently trading between the 33-month moving average, acting as dynamic resistance, and the 77-month moving average, which it sees as major macro support.
He believes the cross-border token could continue to range between these two boundaries before a larger breakout develops. Its “magic number” is $1.65, and breaking above this line on the monthly chart could open the door to increasingly aggressive targets of $8, $13, and possibly $30.
Given XRP’s current price struggles, it seems almost impossible to imagine even the most modest one at $8, but EGRAG has long believed in the asset’s spectacular future.
In a separate update, the analyst reiterated his projection of $13.68 and highlighted another long-term trend that he believes could also support a move towards $8 and beyond. He also highlighted previous phases of XRP accumulation in 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2023, saying each was followed by gains above 500%. He admitted that history does not guarantee a future repeat, but believes that the current configuration for 2026 deserves attention.
Binance Hack and the fall of XRP
CasiTrades also weighed in on the asset’s latest price movements, but offered a different perspective on the free fall. The analyst argued that the technical structure of XRP was already weakened before the news of the Binance hack. Since October 24, the token has repeatedly tested its lower trendline, while CasiTrades said several altcoins were already undergoing second-wave corrective structures and approaching deeper Fibonacci retracement levels.
Even if she believes the hack was still relevant to the decline, she argued that bearish headlines often come when markets are already technically positioned for further declines. It views the current correction as something that had already developed technically, while EGRAG looks beyond the immediate weakness toward a possible macro breakout.
