Aerodrome and Velodrome went live under the name Aero Wednesday evening, by folding the two DEXs into an exchange running on Base, Ethereum, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum, Robinhood Chain, Ink and Arc.
What’s the scoop?
-
The split: AERO reports 1:1, while VELO converts to 0.044 AEROleaving the Vélodrome community with 5.5% of the merged offering based on each party’s share of revenue over the past year, with no team or VC allocation.
-
Predictive allocation: Weekly votes are disappeared. Punters now continually funnel rewards into pools and earn a share of the revenue from those pools, so supporting a market early is the one that pays off the most if it takes off.
-
Capped Rewards: The broadcasts are now price in dollars and capped in relation to the projected revenues of each pool. Awards above a pool’s cap are simply never given.
-
History: Aero says both DEXs have paid stakers over $580 million, the highest amount of any DEX, while operating on chains that only carry around 17% of spot EVM volume. He said its seven launch chains were processing nearly 4 times the DEX volume of Base and OP Mainnet as of mid-October.
