Citi has changed its mind in terms of its price prediction for BTC and Strategy following the broader market rally that began in mid-August.
The banking giant now sees BTC exploding past $113,000 over the next year and has nearly doubled its price target for the largest company holding the leading cryptocurrency.
BTC above $113,000
Just a few months ago, the Wall Street giant cut its Bitcoin price target for next year to below $82,000. This happened in July, when overall market sentiment had deteriorated and BTC had just fallen to its lowest level since late 2024, below $58,000.
However, Bitcoin rebounded quickly and has climbed about 50% since then, currently sitting at around $86,000. So, Citi raised its 12-month forecast by about 40%, to $113,400, reversing much of the caution it showed in July. In their latest update on the subject, the bank’s analysts cited stronger cryptocurrency activity, a more favorable macroeconomic environment and the evident return of ETF inflows as the main reasons behind the new target.
Citi expects around $5 billion in crypto inflows over the next year as financial advisors and brokerages gradually increase BTC allocations. He also acknowledged the recent failure of the CLARITY Act in the Senate, but argued that subsequent announcements from the SEC and CFTC helped mitigate the negative impact on confidence.
CITI INCREASES BITCOIN GOAL TO $113,000
Citi raised its 12-month Bitcoin target from $82,000 to $113,000, implying an upside of around 35% from current levels near $83,900.

The strategy sees a major rise
The change in the bank’s outlook on bitcoin has had an even more dramatic effect on the valuation of its strategy. In its July call, Citi highlighted an MSTR price target of $136. At the time, the company’s main shares were below $100 while its other stock, STRC, had plunged well below its nominal level. Today, however, MSTR is trading at $160, showing an increase of over 60% since the summer lows.
Citi has increase the target at $240 now and has maintained a “buy” rating on MSTR. About 34% of the projected upside contribution comes from further BTC appreciation, the bank said, and another 16% is related to an expansion in the market premium to the company’s net asset value.
This relationship highlights how strategy valuations on Wall Street remain sensitive to BTC itself. Citi has previously described MSTR as a leveraged and considerably more volatile way to gain exposure to the cryptocurrency. Therefore, the numbers can change significantly within a few months if market conditions deteriorate (or improve) significantly.
