What’s the scoop?
-
The 101: Rather than the Open Standard retaining the reserve yield, almost all of it goes to the companies that distribute the OUSD. Additionally, OUSD always mints and redeems at 1:1 to the dollar, with no fees, regardless of size. BlackRock, BNY and Lead Bank manage the reserves and monthly certificates are promised.

Main rails: Integrations are via Stripe, Visa, Mastercard (via BVNK) and Coinbase, support for which starts October 1st. Kraken and Uniswap round out the day one trading platforms.
-
A grand coalition: Open Standard counts more than 200 partners among its ranks, from AmEx and UBS to Shopify and Western Union. Everyone earns based on the OUSD they put into circulation, plus a chance for equity in Open Standard.
-
DeFi aligned: Sentora’s new Aave V4 proposal already lists OUSD as a borrowable asset alongside RLUSD and PYUSD.
-
Big picture: Tether got rich by keeping its float, and Circle is paying Coinbase a lot for its reach. In contrast, OUSD makes payment the product, and if this model persists, the stablecoin war will likely turn into a bidding war for distribution.
