Robinhood shipped a long list at HOOD Summit yesterday, including weekend stock trading, expanded margin, new order types, and longer options hours, but not much explicitly about crypto.
While Robinhood Chain and tokenization played a lesser role, three announcements stood out and landed on developments we’ve been following closely: agents, perpetuals, and social trading.
Together, they demonstrate Robinhood’s ambition to take ownership of the entire “investment” cycle: from conducting research to writing a thesis, then executing it with the best-equipped tool.

Agents become readers
In June, I argued that agents could make financial platforms “greater than the sum of their parts,” acting as a connective tissue between users and all the data and research that exchanges offer but that retail investors rarely have time to read.
Robinhood has been moving toward this for some time, calling it a core value of its agent trading tool. Now it integrates agents directly into the app, rather than only connecting external agents through its Trading MCP.
And within the app, agents will have access to a marketplace of specialized data that they can subscribe to: Token Terminal for crypto fundamentals, Quiver for government activity, Unusual Whales for options flows, Nasdaq for positioning, as well as weather data, satellite imagery and social discussions.

Bitstamp on lighter
Of all the crypto-related “things,” perpetuals have gotten the most attention, with Robinhood announcing that they are actively deploy the instruments to American users.
Eligible users will enjoy up to 10x leverage on BTC and ETH, and up to 3x on others including SOL, XRP, HYPE, and more. Most of us knew criminals were coming, but many were shocked to find out they would be using Bitstamp rather than Lighter, dropping LIT by about 17% in less than an hour.

But for LIT bulls, I wouldn’t despair yet. This seems more like a forced choice driven by regulation than a permanent free pass.
In fact, Johann Kerbrat, director of Robinhood Crypto, laid out the problem in an interview with David Hoffman two weeks ago: regulation is fragmented, Robinhood is cautious as a public company, and it remains unclear how decentralized criminals can legally operate in America. Bitstamp, which Robinhood owns, is the cleanest route today.
If decentralized criminal exchanges eventually get a clear path to the US and Robinhood always doesn’t integrate Lighter, that’s when I would start asking harder questions. Until then, the selloff looks more like a reevaluation of short-term expectations than a broken long-term thesis.

Robinhood launches its Fomo
Robinhood Social, effectively its version of Fomo, has finally moved out of beta to all eligible US users. Users can now post charts, portfolio allocations, and P&Ls, and the feed adds verified commenters and company profiles.
While I don’t believe in the idea that traders will become the next athletes, I do think that features like these will attract broader swaths of retailers to the markets.
The appeal is the same as Fomo: moving deals and P&Ls through a feed, making theses discoverable in a format we already know, and putting execution right next to discovery.

For such a regulatory-cautious company, Robinhood remains incredibly willing to integrate the most innovative and impactful tools that traders and investors use today to compete.
I hope this will serve them well over time, because no other fintech is so directly at the center of what investing and trading will look like in the future: powered by AI and expressed in spot and options as well as perpetuals, prediction markets and whatever comes next.
